My Screensaver Stopped Working

My screensaver stopped working in Windows Vista Ultimate when I installed a
Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000.
Poking around the forum, I see there's a connection with wireless devices
and the screensaver.

I don't get it.
It's Microsoft Windows, it's Microsoft Hardware. So, there must be some way
around this. Any ideas?

I went to Windows Update and downloaded the Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data
Filter. (It's listed as an optional update. I never installed it cuz I
didn't what it was for).

That fixed everything.

Hope this helps some other people!

Actually, it solved my problem. Then I rebooted later that night. And now
it's the same problem: no screensaver.

the HID is still installed. WTF.

I had same problem and fixed it by selecting the Vista Theme. I lost the
screensaver function when I modified the theme.Bill

you mean your screensaver stopped working, then you installed the HID and
then it stopped working too? then you used the vista theme and everything
worked out?

meaning, i can't make my own desktops?

Where exactly do you find this ? I have gone around with this , found all
kinds of articles on it and such, but as of yet I have been unable to find
the source to get to the installation process. Help!! I want my screen saver
back too!
