Screensaver Issues

My screensaver has some odd behavior. It kicks on after 10 minutes,
like I set it to, then it runs for a while. I'm not exactly sure how
long, but long enough for it to kick off and go to blank screen like
they usually do after a while. Then, at some point in the next hour,
the screensaver will turn itself off and go back to the welcome screen
without any user interaction with the mouse or keyboard. It stays
there for another ten minutes, then it pops back into the screensaver.
Rinse, repeat.

It's quite annoying, and even more so to my mother who sleeps in the
same room as the PC and has it flashing in her face at five in the
morning. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

I've had the same problem with two different screensavers, blank and
starfield. I've got the PC set to On Resume, Display Windows Logon
Screen. All the accounts are password protected. If anyone has any
ideas about this, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Hi Senira,

Suggestions and checkpoints:

Disable everything that reads 'Wake up' in the BIOS settings. Also, I have
seen this behavior if you have a CD/DVD in the drive during a shutdown.

Right click My Network Places/Properties/Advanced (top toolbar)/Dial-Up
Preferences/Enable Auto-Dial by Location/Uncheck all locations and check off
always ask me before auto dialing. Also, Disable autodial while I am logged
on.

In the Enable Auto-Dial By Location dialog box, select each location for
which you want the automatic dialing feature to operate. Reboot.
