Screensaver doesn't work?

Installed a screensaver but it doesn't appear in the drop down list on the
Screensaver tab of display Properties. Have used same screensaver
previously in Win 98 with no problem. The "spinguit.scr" (spinning guitar)
file was in c:\windows, tried moving it to c:\windows\system32 since the
other SCR files are in there but it
still doesn't show. Will it just not work in XP?

I'm not familiar with singuit.scr, but any than the most simple screensaver
usually has an install which adds at least a .dll file, and usually much
more if there's significant animation and sound. You'd need to run the
original install file for the screensaver, just copying the *.scr file to
the \Windows or Windows\System32 folders won't suffice. I did a web search
for the install file using the key phrase "spinning guitar" + screensaver,
and found one at this site:

If it's the one that you want, download it, then double click the downloaded
file to install. If it isn't the one that you want, do a web search with
the same key phrase (there were many hits, and one might be the one that you
want).

Thanks for the reply, that's the same one on that site. Tried downloading
it again, same result, it appears to install OK but then nothing! On that
site XP isn't mentioned in System Requirements so I'm assuming it won't
work.
