Can anyone tell me how to fix a "stuttering" screen. When any program is
active, there is a pause and then it picks up where it left off.

Hi,

This might be caused by a faulty display adpater driver that causes the
screen to jerk

Do this.
go to device manager and then uninstall the existing display adapter drivers.
you will be prompted to reboot.
when the computer reboots insert your display adapter driver cd and then
reinstall it again.
this will improve the display settings.
