screen saver starting early

It appears that I can't set my screen saver time. I long time ago, SP2, I had
it set for 7 minutes. So now when I move the time to 20 minutes it still
launches early, my guess is at 7.
It's Win2K SP4.
Any reg keys to change to fix this?

Take a look at;

"ScreenSaveTimeOut"="180"
(time in seconds before activation)
found at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

I checked it and it shows the correct value? 1020 for 17 minutes.
Is there another area that might override it?

thanx!

What happens if you logon as a new user? (create a new account in 'Users and
Passwords').

I haven't tried yet. I had hoped for an easier fix.
I thoguht about reapplying an SP but don't really want to do this becasue I
have a PC working well (development tools are sensitive (VS,VS.NET,
Macromedia MX, etc.)
I'll give it a try. My guess is that it's something with my current
profile/account.

That's my guess too. Natively though the OS only looks at the Reg_Sz string
ScreenSaveTimeOut
