screen saver quit working

A few weeks ago my screen saver stopped coming on at the specified interval.
I can preview whatever I set, but once I click "ok" it will not ever come
on. Can anyone help me with this?

Is there a wireless mouse that does not cause this to occur? My screen is
getting burned because my kids forget to turn it off... Thanks, Mary Jo
