Screen Saver Problems

I have a Dell laptop with Windows Vista Basic. When I first got it in July,
the screensaver worked fine (I had it set to show photos from my computer).
Just recently it's stopped working (I can preview it, but it doesn't run on
it's own). I've noticed in previous posts that a HID NON-USER INPUT DATA
FILTER update might solve it, but I can't find that update on my computer or
online, and I do not have a wireless mouse - I use a Logitech USB Wheelmouse.
Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I think this might have something to do with the recent updates. My Computer
was running fine as a Frog Hair untill about a Week ago. The ONLY thing I can
remember before this started was a large Microsoft update download that
required me to re-boot.
Since then, my Screensaver has stopped working, Microsoft Mail has had a
Brain Fart and will only allow mw to recieve mail, not send it, and I got
some horrid Blue Screen the other Day that said Vista was shut down to keep
from damaging my computer and something else about a data dump???
Things got so bad so fast, I formated and re-installed hoping it would fix
the problem. but after automatic updates was done, the problem's back.
I hope this problem is addressed and fixed very quickly, I'm having
flashbacks of Windows ME...

Sorry I couldn't help.

I am having the same problem. I'm only using a USB mouse and keyboard but my
screen savers do not work. I can't even preview some of them. I'm using
Vista Business on a Dell laptop.

Ditto here. I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 1720 with Windows Vista, and
since receiving it one month ago, have been unable to get sceen saver to
work. I can preview, but it never runs on its own. I use a Microsoft wireless
mouse (not sure if that is relevant to any screen saver problems. Has anyone
checked with Dell tech support about any screensaver issues?

thank you.

There is a known issue with some wireless mouses. There is a download "HID
Non-User Input Data filter", which is optional and it should come up in
Windows Update. It solved the problem om my desktop, but the download option
does not come up on my laptop. Does somebody know how to get this file
otherwise?
