screen saver in window xp

running window xp home edition ...
my screen saver works meaning i set a time for the display to go off at a
certain time and it does ...but agian after a while it stops, so i go to
confirm the setting again and apply it again so it works and then after a
while or the next day it stops ..so this thing goes on any idea or help in
this???
my power scheme is set to >>>minimal power management

Do you mean it wakes and THEN monitor will not turn off? Or, do you mean
sometimes monitor will not turn off?

display doesnt go off eventhough its set to do after a certain time , and
thats when i go and re apply the setting again so that the display turns off
again

Please explain what you mean by time. At a certain time of day or after x
amount of time of no computer use?
How are you setting the time?

certain time ... meaning after setting the dsplay to go off it could be 10
mins or 15 mins whatever i choose ....

You apparently have something running in the background.
If you set it for ten minutes for example, it will shut down the monitor
after ten minutes of
no computer activity. When it won't shut down, right click the task bar,
select task manager
and try to detect what is running. Are you using a virus scan program?
Norton? Shut it down.

moving mouse or doing some key press event

I have a similar problem, but with a twist. I am running windows XP Pro and
an Acer Ferrari 4000 platform. I am also running MS Office 2007. My screen
saver will engage at the programmed 5 min time when I do not have Oulook
open. If I have Outlook open, the screen saver will not engage. If I close
Outlook it the screen saver works fine again.

I have read through all of the threads on this topic and don't see this
specific case.

Any help would be appreciated.
