Screen saver error win 2k Pro

On my Display Properties on Win 2000 Pro, when I try to go
to screen saver settings I get the following error:

"An error occured while windows was working with the
Control Panel file c:\winnt\system32\desk.cpl"

Can I unpack this file from install cd and replace the
file desk.cpl? or go through the hassle of doing a Os
reinstall?

The error came when I installed d3player to be able to
play screen savers.

Uninstall the softawe. Go to c;|winnt\system32 and remove
all the entries for the svreen savers you dawunloaded. Yo
may also do a search and fing all files that end with
*.svr and delete.
