Screen saver availability

Tom C.

I am unable to use a screen saver that I have used in
previous editions of windows. When this screen saver is
installed I am unable to pick it from the pull down list
of screen savers. The home XP edition will not list the
screen saver that I wish to use. This not a slide show
but a screen saver that updtaes itself every four minutes
with astronomical information. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you Tom C.

The screen saver just simply may not be comaptible with XP. Have you asked
the author of this file?

Make sure the file has the .scr file extension and that it is placed in the
C:\Windows\System32 folder. Right click the file there and select the Test
option.

I had contacted the author of this particular application
and they do use "XP" and suggested the very fixes that
you have. I had tried those options then and to no avail.
I was able to run the screen saver as a stand alone
application by simply activating the "exe" file of this
screen saver. I'm fairly certain that the application
would work if I was able to "pick" from the pull down
list. Under previous versions of Windows there was
a "browse" button which allowed you to find the folder or
it was simply added to the list of screen savers
presented.

Thank you for your reply
