screen resolutions

Every time I reboot my computer it defaults back to 600X800 pixels. I go to
the control panel and fix it, hit apply and it changes. I never get the
question where I am supposed to say yes within a certain period. Consequently
it defaults back to this. I do not know why, I never used this large
resolution for anything. This takes forever to reboot and then change.
Please Help!!!
