Screen resolution

I have a program that needs to have a resolution of 1280X8??, I have a 15
inch flat screen, and currently the max resolution I can adjust to is
1024X769, is there any way I can improve on this cheaply.

Many thanks

John

If you can't use that resolution there is no cheap way. If you can read
the manual that came with the monitor it will tell you what resolutions
you can use. You can also contact the company's site and find out. This
is a case where money talks. :)

Is it a limitation of the monitor (maximium resolution) or the video
card (video RAM?) It's a matter of replacing whichever one won't let
you go farther. (For instance, I've got a video card that could
comfortably run at 1600x1200, but the monitor won't go past 1024x768
- can't handle anything higher.)

John should also note that there is normally no 1280 x 8-anything
choice. The standard resolution with 1280 horizontal pixels is
1280 x 1024.

Also note that running 1280 x 1024 on a 15" monitor will make
things *very* small. Each person's eyes are different, but I
wouldn't want to run 1280 x 1024 on anything less than a 19"
monitor.
