screen resolution problems on Windows 2000

I have a Dell C840 laptop running Windows 2000 Professional. I'm finding that each time after I login, the screen resolution changes so that the desktop is only a portion of the entire display. I have to manually change the resolution each time to get back to being able to utilize the entire screen display area. It appears that the next time I login, it does not remember this. Is there a setting I've to change somewhere for this?

Thanks.
