HP Compaq Desktop - Vista Home Premium.
Installed Intel Grapfic update (recomended by Microsoft for SP1
installation. Sure enough, SP1 appeared for download....and downloaded
successsfully. Everything working good. But.......now, after the computer
has been asleep overnight, when I wake it up, the screen resolution has
dropped from 1280-1024 to 800-600.
Any ideas for a solution? bobg

Thanks for the response, Rick. I'm not very sharp with this stuff. Shall I
remove the Intel driver using the Device Manager and restart? This update
is listed -as of 5/20/08- in my automatic update list. I don't have access
to the software anywhere else.

I think I just learned how to "reinstall" the driver using the Device Mgr.
I'll see how it works for a few days and get back to you. Again, thanks
for the response. (About 7 or 8 years ago you helped me with a problem my
grandaughter created on my computer). It's great to have you still helping
us! bobg :)

Hi,

Go to HP's support site, look up your model number under the downloads
section and grab the latest driver for the video system. Download to your
desktop and install it. Unless their site recommends that you do so for your
system, there's no need to remove the current version in Device Manager.

Hi Rick, As you suggested I updated my Graphic Driver at HP but still had
the problem of the screen resolution changing during the "sleep mode." I've
been using the feature which lets you have a higher DPI on the Techs. I
tried dropping it to 96 which I understand is standard. This fixed the
problem. I'm mentioning this in case someone else has the same problem.

Thanks for your help. bobg
