Screen Resolution After Updates...Help!

The security updates were automatically installed the other day and now I
can't get my screen resolution back to 1024 x 768 without a problem. When I
correct the pixel setting the screen has about a 2" blacked out area on the
right of my screen and it looks like my screen shifted to the left so I can't
see anything on the left edge of the screen.

I've used system restore to go back to before the updates were installed and
it works fine but I want to keep the updates if possible.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Ben

Make sure that you do not include any driver updates from Microsoft,
especially the video card. These drivers are not the latest ones available
directly from the manufacturer.

Are there monitor buttons you can use to adjust the horizontal after
changing screen resolution?

I had the same happen to me, but a little more pervasive. I can no
longer get Display properties from either a right click on the desktop
or left click on the Display icon in the control panel. And, other
Control Panel options are no longer accessible (User Accounts,
System). When I click on any of these, nothing whatsover happens.
I’ve looked in every log I can to discover the issue and yours is the
first I’ve seen describe this item
