Screen repositioning during after cropping - can it be disabled?

I am using powerpoint 2007 after many happy years of using 2004 for mac. I
need to align imprecisely cropped images to form a large composite image. So
I get them into approximate order, zoom in as far as possible to make sure I
am cropping accurately, and then crop the edges.

Problem is, after each crop, the view re-centers to the middle of the
selected inserted image. 2004 version does not do this, and I find it very
annoying, especially if I am trying to then go in and "tidy up" the crop in
the Size and Position window. This involves scrolling back over and finding
the appropriate site again to then verify and/or modify the crop. Is there
any way to disable this very annoying repositioning feature?

It's an annoying bug with no fix currently. We're all hoping MS will
eventually fix it in a service pack or something.
