I have a problem. When I turn my computer on I usually see the windows
splash screen, then my mouse, then the screen goes blank. I hear the login
sounds but do not see the screen. If I restart my computer and try a few
more times I usually get my screen back on the third to fifth try. I have
all windows updates, my video driver (ATI Radeon 9200) is up to date, and I
regularely scan my computer for spyware and viruses. According to Device
manager all hardware is operating fine. This just started about a week or
two ago. Any suggestions on how to figure out the cause of the problem?

Thanks, I'll start working out the problem on tuesday. I'll follow up
sometime in the future about how it went.

What happens in Safe mode?

Start>Run>msconfig>ok

Now click the BOOT.INI Tab and put a check agaist the box "/BASEVIDEO."
Reboot in Normal Mode.

Go to the Display Properties and set the refresh rate, resolution etc.
which will be supported by the graphic card as well as the monitor.

Then just make the reverse the changes to BOOT.INI and reboot.

Does that help?

If not then it may be a video card/monitor problem.
