screen goes black for a second then comes back?

hi
my screen goes black for a second then comes back also there is a lot of
diffrent colours appering on the screen ie lines and dots appear sometimes?
also the screen freezes sometimes and i have to reboot.
any ideas>
only started doing this about 4 days ago..ive tryed new video drivers and
system restore..

downloaded drivers from manufactures website,
its still doing it,driving me nuts.!!
i did use registry mechanic the other day hope i havent wiped something off
as ive deleted it now!!

assuming your using a vid card - not onboard vid - check that vid card is
firmly seated.
If card has a fan ensure its running/not blocked.
Try running in safe mode for a while, to see if problem vanishes.
I guess you don't have a spare vid card to try?
