screen freezes - Program not responding error

I have XP Pro, Explorer 6 sp1, a good up to date virus
software.

Quite often my browser freezes and I get an error message
that tells me the program is not responding and asks me to
end the task.

The problem started occurring after I used ad aware and
spy-bot to clean out the spyware.

I reset my system files, using XP's udate and restore
feature, to a date before I used the spyware software and
everything crashed. I got a critical system failure error
which indicated I had a driver problem. I was able set my
restore my system to the current date but still have the
browser problem.

any thoughts?

I have the same problem. usually when I set my homepage the I E will crash. I belive some of the windows registery has been chenged. but I am not sure.
