I am trying to run a scheduled backup. I using the backup
utility that comes with XP. I have run this backup
interactivly and it works fine. I have set the schedule
to a couple minutes in advane to watch what happens. It
will bring up the program, get to the point of mounting
the device and then it just stops. It creates a blank log
file in the reports section, no errors.

Any thoughts.

Thanks,

David

XP automatically backs-up each time you powerdown. So
when you backed-up it had already been done (saved
settings in LastGood). Check your Restore and you'll see
the capability of Restoring to different points up to 90
days back. You can create a specific Restore Point and
give it a name for future use.

David, The response immediately below is not right. Any kind of "backup"
that XP may do (as in creating a restore point) has nothing to do with user
files - - your personal stuff, that is. System Restore can be used to
recover from a bad software install. It is not a backup mechanism. In
particular, System Restore is of no use to you in the event on a complete
disk failure. If the disk supporting your system partition dies then the
restore points are dead along with it.

I don't have any thoughts on what may be wrong with your backup. What device
is being mounted? I am curious about that.

No ideas here. Who is the backup software vendor? Have you contacted them?
