I have a Win 2K Advanced Server, but the Task Scheduler Service will not
start - even when I try to force it in Services, does anyone know how to
reinstall / fix, or alternatively if there is any other way of scheduling
NTBackup to start without using this service

You need to supply more details:

- Start a Command Prompt
- Type this command:
net start "Task Scheduler"

What do you see?

I have tried this and get exactly the following

The service is not responding to the control function.

Re-install Internet Explorer. The Task Scheduler is
bundled with it.

I assume you have already scanned your machine for
viruses?
