Scheduler question

My OS is XP Pro SP2. Defender is scheduled with the Windows Scheduler. I
scan early morning when the computer is not in use. I use "Wake computer to
run this task" to wake the computer from standby. Every time I reboot I must
reapply this command as it is turned off. Is there any way to prevent this?
Thank you.

Which command? What exactly to you mean when you say "reapply
this command" and "it is turned off"?

Thanks Pegasus. I "check" the box for "Wake computer". When I reboot I must
"check" the box because it is blank each time. There must be a way to avoid
this.

This appears to be a question for Windows Defender (about which
I know nothing) rather than about the Task Scheduler. I recommend
you post again and put "Windows Defender" into the Subject line.

Pegasus,

I've tried that numerous times. I never get a response. I've titled my
question several ways to no avail. I don't think specialists in Defender
have a clue about the Windows Scheluler other than Defender uses it to
schedule.

It seems to me this is a Scheduler question. It is in the Scheduler where
this occurs. Why would the task being scheduled have anything to do with the
workings of Scheduler? (Ok, that question is a little broad and probably
overstated)

Every time I reboot I know to open the Windows Scheduler to check to see if
the Wake Computer box is checked for the only scheduled task set up there and
it is invariably not checked. Frustrating to say the least that with each
reboot I must reset a function within Scheduler.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry, I have never played with the "Wake" function in the
Task Scheduler. I suspect that its operation depends on the
power management driver. I suggest you try an alternative
instead: Switch the computer off, then restart it at the desired
time with an appropriate setting in the BIOS.

Pegasus,

Thank you for your response. I have no idea what you're talking about.
Over my heard. But I appreciate your attempt to help.

I have asked the "Wake" function Task Sheduler question numerous times in
Windows Security newsgroups as well as Defender newsgroups. I never get so
much as a response. I don't know if tech's can't answer it or it's being
ignored. Would you have a good quess as to what Windows newsgroup or area of
newsgroups would be most appropriate to ask a Task Scheduler question? I
would have to quess others have Task Scheduler problems/questions. Thanks.

I think you're in the correct newsgroup but it seems I'm in good
company when it comes to admitting ignorace on the subject of
the Wake function in the Task Scheduler.

The BIOS turn-on function is trivial: Reboot your machine, then
press the appropriate key to get into the BIOS setup. It's often
the Delete key. Read your manual if you don't know what it is.
Now check under the Power pull-down menu. If your BIOS has
an auto-start function then it is likely to be there. If you cannot
find it, ask a hardware newsgroup.
