Scheduled Tasks not working

Scheduled tasks don't work on one of my user's laptops.
A task that has been running flawlessly for years suddenly
stopped. He hasn't changed his password. The Blaster patch
was pushed on the night before, but no other patched
machine (we have hundreds of them) have broken.
Creating a new task still doesn't work.

I've created a work-around using the AT command, but I
need to fix Scheduled Tasks. The manager needs to be able
to create and edit his own tasks. He clearly can't do that
with the AT command.

I've checked his "Task Scheduler" service. It says it's
running but says it's dependent on the RPC service, which
is also running. I stopped each and restarted them.
Nothing seems really out of place, but the Scheduled tasks
still don't work.

It doesn't matter who you try to run the task as, nor who
is logged on. Even the local Administrator can't
successfully run a task.

There are no logged errors with any task, nor in Event
Viewer, nor in DrWatson. This is a total mystery to me.

Any suggestions on where to go next would be appreciated.

It doesn't. That's a feature of Scheduled Tasks, which
isn't working. You can go into it, set up tasks, etcetera,
but nothing works (nothing logs).

I need to find out what ALL the dependancies are and start
reverse-engineering/nut-&-bolting this. I don't have time.

I sure hope the manager stays off my case until his new
laptop comes in, but that'll be months from now.
