scheduled tasks not running

After setting up my scheduled tasks list to include Disk
Cleanup & Disk Defragment,putting the computer in sleep
mode so that the tasks will do there business in the
early morning.I wake in the morning to find that the
tasks opened but never started to "complete" cleanup or
defrag.
I am the computer ADMINISTRATOR.
I am setting up these tasks through the Scheduled Tasks
in System tools.

Any advice will be greatly received.
