Scheduled Tasks Do Not Run

On or about Jan. 22, my sheduled tasks of Norton One-Button Checkup and
Antivirus stopped running. I set up the tasks while logged on as the
Administrator a couple of years ago. My account IS password protected, I am
running Win XP Pro SP2, (SP2 includes a hotfix to Scheduler according to KB
Article 812960). I updated to SP2 when it came out.

I followed the suggestion in the Symantec KB "How to test the Microsoft
Windows Task Scheduler"
by setting a task for Calculator to load at login. I entered my pwd. It
didn't run. Tried it again, and still no go, suggesting the problem lies with
Task Scheduler/Windows itself. Scheduler IS started (I checked in
Administrative Tools). I deleted the non-working tasks and reset them. I
checked SchedLgU.Txt and noticed the following error messages:
"Norton AntiVirus - Scan my computer - John Nixon.job" (NAVW32.EXE) 2/7/2006
5:30:00 AM ** ERROR **
The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed,
therefore, the task did not run.
The specific error is:
0x80041314: The task has been configured with an unsupported combination of
account settings and run time options.
Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.
"Norton One Button Checkup.job" (OBC.exe) 2/7/2006 5:00:00 PM ** ERROR **
The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed,
therefore, the task did not run.
The specific error is:
0x80041314: The task has been configured with an unsupported combination of
account settings and run time options.

There is no reference to Calculator failing to run at startup in SchedLgU.txt.

In the scheduled tasks window, there is no status for Calculator; NAV and
OBC show "could not start;" last result for all three show 0X0. Would
appreciate any help.

Have you made sure the service is started and set to automatic? Is there a
password on the default admin account. Not sure if its needed if there is a
password on the account you are trying to run the scheduled task on, but you
never know? Did scheduled tasks ever run?

Please repost if you find the fault

Thanks for you reply, Glen,

The service has been running successfully for a couple of years until around
January 22; they are set to automatic. The only active account on the system
is my own, which is password protected and has administrator privileges.
