Scheduled task problem...

For the last 1-1/2 years i have been hibernating my laptop at night by
pressing the power button. At 7:00 am a scheduled task(notepad starts and
displays reminders for me), wakes the computer.from hibernation. 3 days ago
i decided to make a new scheduled task that would hibernate the computer
without having to press the power button. I did by getting the correct
program to run on this site by Detlev, which was
C:\WINDOWS\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState and it works
fine. But my other task doesn't wake the computer now. Why?

Hi ManyBeers,

My guess is for the last 1.5 years you have been putting
your laptop into 'suspend' mode not 'hibernate'.

When your laptop is in 'suspend', it still has a few
functions running. And can process the wake-up request. When
you are in 'hibernate', your machine is basically shut down.
Hibernate takes a 'snapshot' of RAM than shuts the machine
off. When you turn the machine back on, it restores the RAM
image and you are good to go.

Ciao . . . C.Joseph

Thanks for the reply, but my laptop definitely hibernates and is not in
standby or suspend mode because it completely shuts down. Plus when it does
so it says "Windows is preparing to hibernate".

Rather than being rude why don't you just offer a solution to my problem

Wait for an answer.

THAT is your solution.

For the sake of the acronymically challenged, what's BUMP? All I can
think of is Back Up My Pc.

Rather than making a second childish reference to my bump post (the 1st by
Uncle Grumpy) maybe you should use your posting time more productively and
come up with a solution to my problem in the OP. Oh and "BUMP" means "boot
up my post".

This is not a forum it's newsgroup, and as such bump doesn't
work.

With that attitude, I could care less if you find an answer to your
question. You made a reference to BUMP that I didn't understand, so I
asked you about it... and you chastise me for asking? F<insert 3 more
letters here> you, and I
still don't get it... or should I have said FUAISDGI?

Yes i know that now. That issue being out of the way do you or anyone else
here
have an answer to my question. Incidentally i disabled my hibernation
scheduled task and my other scheduled tasks worked like before. So somehow my
newly created task based on this executable
C:\WINDOWS\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState affected my
other wake up task.
