Hello,

I will usually want to leave my work pc on until midnight so that in case I
want to access my work pc, I can access it remotely.

To save energy, I now want to try to schedule the shutdown of the work pc.
I've add shutdown.exe -s in the windows xp scheduled task and I've tried to
see if it works. It works when I scheduled it to shutdown when the screen
saver lock isn't activated yet. However, if the screen saver is running and
the screen saver lock is activated, the schedule action is not activated.

How should I set the scheduled shutdown such that it will still run even if
the pc has gone into screensaver mode?

The system is Windows XP SP2.

Thanks.

Have you tried shutdown -s -f? Type shutdown /? at the Command
Prompt to see all the available switches.
