First search newsgroup, then ask a question, please.

Here is the solution by Robin Walker:

To set a schedule in MSAS in the afternoon:

1. Close MSAS
2. In control panel "Regional and Language Options", button "Customize", tab
"Time", configure a 12-hour AM/PM time format.
3. Open MSAS, configure your desired schedule in 12-hour AM/PM format, click
"Save", close MSAS.
4. In control panel "Regional and Language Options", button "Customize", tab
"Time", re-configure your preferred 24-hour time format.

Then your scheduled event should occur at your desired time, even if the
displayed time in MSAS looks wrong.

Mikolaj,

I would like to point out to you that for the people
viewing this newsgroup though Microsoft's website
interface, the search functionality has been removed
temporarily while the web site is being updated. When a
person clicks the search button they receive the
following message:

"We are in the process of upgrading this site to a new
version, as a part of the upgrade we have disabled search
for this site. In the next few weeks this site upgrade
will be complete, including a new Search with improved
functionality. Thank you, Microsoft Communities."

Ryan - I understand (and don't disagre with) what you are saying. That
message is an outrageous misstatement of the facts.--I can't remember when
search was turned off--but my recollection was that it was at least as far
back as May, 2005.

However, if you have a broadband connection and some spare disk space,
following the clear instructions in the top panel (scroll down!) to access
these groups via NNTP will get you full text searchable local message
stores, with software you already have on your machine.

I'm not suggesting that the first-time inquirer here should know this or
have followed this procedure before posting a question--only that if you are
interested, there is a relatively easy way to get a full search capability,
all the way back to the start of the beta in January. The HTML messages do
not go all the way back.

There's risk to this, as to any search process, of course--the product has
changed over time and answers to common questions have been refined--but
search is alive and well in NNTP--and using those instructions to get
started at it may also get you looking at other NNTP groups where you can
get real, timely, expert advice about technical matters.

Hi Ryan,

I am aware of this, but even scrolling through last few pages using the web
interface (i.e. "manual search") reveals posts and answers concerning
scheduling problem.
And what I have written in the first sentence was not an order, but a
suggestion. Was it really so rude?

No--this is not just a GUI problem--your reading indicates that the scan
will happen at 10 AM, rather than 10 PM--i.e. 10:00 rather than 22:00

Here's the fix:
