scheduled backups don't work

Hi,
I am using XP Home on my laptop with an external hard drive. I did not have
the ntbackup.exe utility loaded on my computer so a friend copied the file
from his XP Pro and installed it on my computer. It appears to work fine if
I do a back up manually but the scheduled 2 AM backup never work.
At first I was getting the message could not back up because of no password.
I went in to the schedules folder and in the properties of the scheduled
back, I added a password. Still the scheduled backup did not work.
Is there a special way to do a scheduled backup? I am selecting certain
folders/files to back.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I believe there needs to be a password set up on the user account.
