Schedule of 'automatic send/receive'

It appears that no matter what we set the time at, be it 5 minutes or 200
minutes, the send/rececive function is excuted every minute. A notification
is displayed on the right hand side of the Status bar as if we were clicking
on the 'send/receive' icon. Any suggestions on how we can change the time
setting would be appreciated.

Not possible.
You provided no information.
Outlook version, mail transport types, connection types, and complete
automatic polling settings are all in play and we cannot guess them.

We are running Outlook 2003 with an exchange server. Within our group of
'All Accounts', the following boxes are checked:
-Include this group in send/receive (F9).
-schedule an automatic send/receive every, e.g. 5minutes
-Perform an automatic send/receive when exiting.

Those settings normally are set to apply to polling an Internet Mail
Services, not synchronizing with Exchange.
Ask someone familiar with Exchange how the synchronization is controlled.
