Schedule backup does not work/start

I have scheduled a back up, every thing is properly setup, and job is on
scheduled back up list, task sch, services is also started, but still backup
does not start automatically, on windows 2000 professional systems,, what
could be the reason.. please help

How did you determine that the backup did not start?
Did you have a look at the time stamp against your job?
Did you check the Task Scheduler log? The Event Logger?
Did you try and schedule a simple batch file to ensure
that the Task Scheduler works?
