How can I drag a contact to the appointment calendar as I can do in Palm
software?
 
If you right click and hold the contact, you can drag/drop it on the calendar
in the navigation bar (folder list). You will get a pop up menu that lets
you "Address New Meeting" as the top most item - that creates a meeting to
email address of the contact.

I'm not sure how Palm work, but this may help.
 
Dragging should work. What happens when you drag and drop on the Calendar
button at the bottom of the navigation pane or to the folder (in Folder
list)?
