Hi. Just noticed a few light scratches on my XP CD how
deep do scratches have to be on a CD and CD-RW's to
affect them from say the program installing? Thanks,
Craig.

If the CD works, then the scratch is not affecting it.

There is no set "depth" or "length".

I would copy the XP CD to a CD-R, (it's legal to do so), as a backup just in
case problems do develop.

In addition to the other good responses (I especially
like Curt's idea of backing it up while you can), I'd
like to point out the data is actually in a film on the
back side of the label. Polishing the "working" side is
safe, but protect the label side!
