ScanWizard OCR hitch

Up to now Microtek ScanWizard has happily saved OCR to MS Word. That
was under Mac OS 9.

Now I have OS X, a new driver, and a new version of Word (2004), and
ScanWizard won't allow me to choose Word as the destination app for
OCR. It offers Firefox, IE, Preview, Quicktime, Colorsync, but Word
and other likely candidates are dimmed.

Where have I gone wrong? Or could it be a corrupted driver?
TIA for any advice.

Microtek Scanmaker 5600. OS 10.4.3. PowerBook G4 1GHz.

There are NO drivers for MAC OS X 10.4!!!

And when I looked again I saw that the download site does mention only
10.2 and 10.3. The next step is to ask if they have any plans for 10.4.
