Hello, can you somehow scan a document from within Access? Such as calling
a scanner and passing in the name you want the scanned document to be called
and then placing it on the network.

Or would you just have the user scan the document separately, then for
example go to an Invoice screen, prompt the user to browse for the scanned
document and then save the relationship of the
Invoice number and the filepath of the document in a table.

Thanks

Don

Dear Don:

I'm not sure what you're after, but I have an idea what it might be, so I'll
give it a shot.

Are you trying to produce some sort of image file out of a report generated
by Access? I know that there are printer drivers available for fax
programs, where you can route the printing of a document and arrive at a fax
image. Most fax software would have this.

Likely, there are other similar outputs for other situations. Is there a
specific image format you must achieve? I'm thinking that's what you mean,
as scanning the document into the computer would produce such an image. Or
is the final product you desire a text conversion (OCR) that could come from
scanning a document. There are text formatted outputs available as the
output of Access reports.

There is also the snapshot output of reports. You may want to look at that.
This provides an archive of old reports that cannot be reproduced from the
current data which I use in my applications.

With there being so many possible answers to your question, a bit more
detail as to your purpose would be useful, especially if I have not hit on
anything close yet.
