Scanner and Camera Wizzard - Autoplay problem

My Olympus USB xD card reader used to autoplay and prompt
for selection where I selected "Scanner and Camera
Wizzard" and it worked perfectly until I installed Adobe
Photoshop Elements. When media is inserted it displays
in explorer window. I un-installed PSE and it still does
not prompt. I have reviewed and
reset "properties", "autoplay" to S&C Wzrd and also back
to prompt w/o success. I downloaded autoplay.exe and it
checks out O.K. on everything. Autoplay actually works,
but will not prompt. I reviewed the registry settings
suggested in an earlier post
suggesting "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" key. I noticed PSE still
exists all over the registry even though it was
uninstalled and that is lousy for a software vendor not
to clean-up.

I could not find anything on MS site or Adobe site about
this. I was going to buy PSE until they dorked my
computer, now the search is on for another editor. Does
anyone know something else to try?

Registering the DLL as suggested in another thread fixed
the wizzard. I have extreme dislike for Adobe for
unregistering the DLL in the first place and for not
providing documentation on how to restore it. I would
have preferred to continue to use the wizzard and then
edit with PSE instead of being forced to use their
product exclusively. Who the hell do they think they are
trashing my configuration. Adobe does not deserve my
business!

I use Arcsoft Photo Studio and Roxio Photo Suite. They both do a decent job. They talk a lot about Picture It here.

This wizzard functionality was restored by "REGSVR32
SHIMGVW.DLL", thanks to previous thread. I am extremely
disatisfied with Adobe for deciding to disable this
function and furthermore for failing to address this
obvious hijacking by providing a solution. At the very
least, the un-install should have re-registered this DLL.
BAD, BAD, BAD. I hope other vendors haven't resorted to
such tactics.

Gordon, you seem to know alot about this if your able to get into the registry. Maybe you can help answer a question I have. I have a memory card reader that I can plug in via the usb port and I can hear it being picked up because it makes a blooping noise. When I pop in my memory card the scanner/camera wizard pops up perfectly and asks me what I want to do. My question or problem is this, both my brother and father have the same setup yet their scanner/camera wizard doesn not autoplay or as I called it.. pop up when the insert the card.. or actually it never comes up. If I go in and run it from the get pictures from camera/scanner setup, it just shows the scanner options. How can I get their card readers to autoplay? Any suggestions? Thx.
