Have been having trouble with Windows XP Home for some
time now. When I did a repair install my modem quit and
other things started to happen. I then did a complete
clean install and it did the same thing. My biggest
concern was when I went to schedule a scandisk and
restarted my machine. It rebooted and when scandisk
started the monior went black.I manuelly rebooted but it
didn't help. I let it go on with what I thought was
scandisk even tho' the monitor was black, and lo 'n' be
hold it reboot and windows start as normal operation. Why
did the monitor stay dark after scandisk started. I have
updated my video drivers for my nVidea Geforce4 MMX440
card. Any ideas?

I wasn't aware that XP had scandisk.

It does have CheckDisc:
Open My Computer, and then select the local disk you want to check.
On the File menu, click Properties.
On the Tools tab, under Error-checking, click Check Now.
Under Check disk options, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad
sectors check box.

Is this what you are running?

You didn't read my information either. I didn't ask
how to get to it, I asked what to do about the BLACK
screen. I don't have a problem getting to Chkdsk,Thankyou
very much...
