SCANDISK AND IMAGE.DLL

The ScanDisk command has disappeared from my menu (tools).
How do I restore?
I also recieve the image.dll file missing msg, how do I
repair?

You will not find that shortcut in XP. Instead, right click on any drive
and select Properties. Then click Tools> Error Checking> Check Now

Or use the chkdsk command in a command prompt window. Type chkdsk /? to see
a list of the available switches.

Strong possibility that there is/was adware on the system:

Run AdAware or Spybot Search and Destroy to remove traces of an remaining
spyware. If the error still appears, you'll need to edit the RUN keys of
the registry to remove the startup call for image.dll
