I have troubles with these 2 windows xp application.
If i try to use Scandisk in the phase 1 it arrive at 65 % then my PC will be
freezed and i need to switch of and reboot.
If i try to defrag the HD when i click on the Defrag button my PC always
automaticly reboot.
May someone help me?

You could have a very serious hd surface error, try to save your important
data to a memory usb, and later delete all unnecesary things.

Hope this helps, Carlos.

Carlos
Many thank for you answer
ok i will save my data ,but i don't understand your "later delete all
unnecessary things"
What you means exactly?
Paolo

XP doesnt run "scandisk",xp runs with CHKDSK...Either way, youre checking
the hd during pc start-up or restart,correct...Those are the only time xp can
chk the hd & repair, one can/could run CHKDSK C: In cmd prompt, but its read
only,no repairs can be made.Try,going to run, type:cmd In cmd type:
CLEANMGR Clean-up the hd,after,type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,type:
Defrag C: Once thru, type:EXIT Restart pc.If either fail, boot to xp
cd,recovery
console,type:CHKDSK C: /R

Phase 1 checks file integrity. Your disk flunked the test. I would be out
buying another drive instead of posting to the newsgroup.

if something is wrong on your file system, to delete your unneeded files
give more good chances to you, isnt it ?.

I thank all the guys for the help and specially Jim fot the sarcastic
answer.
I solve myself the problem.
The problem i discover was due to a software that i had installed (Intel
Application Accelerator).
When i update my Windows XP with the SP3 for some strange reason i had these
problems.
I remove these Intel software and now everythings il working.
Jim i don't need any new HD
