scan engine not found?!

Why would I get this message in safe mode in XP Home when starting my
Symantec anti-virus? This is part of a continuing problem I am having
trying to get XP Home up and running again. It starts up fine but
quickly freezes when I touch the mouse or keyboard >:-(

Hi,

Boot to Safe mode, uninstall anything belonging to Symantec. Then restart
normally, does this resolve the problem?
