1) Lose the caps. It's yelling, is extremely rude and makes your posts
incredibly hard to read.

2) XP does not have scan disk.

3) Have you tried in safe mode?

You want to know what's annoying Cirredwin? You constant lack of help and perpetual criticism. It would be nicer if you simpy shut up. As for the Caps lock so flippin what? I can read it just fine and if you are so easily offended then simply do us all a favour and stop reading and replying. As for the Scan Disk. While it is true that Scan Disk as such does not exist in XP it has been replaced by the Check Disk utility which does the same thing and as a beginner you don't need to know or learn parameters to use it. go>start\my computer\and right click on your main drive (usually C:) and then click properties and then click the tools tab and at the top you will see "Error-checking" . Click the "check now" button and then put a check mark in the two boxes on the following page that comes up and then click "start" . You will recieve a warning window that the" disk-checking cannot be performed at this time-----------" It will ask you if you want the disk checked at next reboot. Click yes, and then reboot. The system will now do a full scan and recover any lost fragments and fix any errors as well. You should also get the HDD Utility tester from your disk manufacturer. Here is a link to the list. http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=238270
This will give you a link to your Hard Drive Manufacturers disk checking utility that will help in trouble shooting and fixing hard disk problems. Please take note Cirredwin that this is how a reply should be. HELPFUL. {:~)

Don't know who Cirredwin is, and granted, your reply was helpful. However,
no white space is almost as bad as using caps. :o(

Thought you were replying to me then! ;o) I have the Unknown Prick
kill-filed so I don't see its posts.

He had another go at me the other day because *HE* doesn't know the
difference between 'cross-posting' and 'multi-posting'!

Hey Prickhead - learn how to type in paragraphs!

Prickhead? Nice and classy guttermouth. Now stop talking
out your arse so loud and clear. That is your arse,
right? I can't imagine even your breath would smell this
bad or teeth would be this brown!

First, learn to post correctly. Caps are rude and considered
shouting. We can hear just fine.

After you learn how to post correctly, please repost in the correct
civilized manner. You'll get more help then.

This post is just as bad as the original poster using all caps. There
is such a thing as the "Enter" key that lets you break your post into
paragraphs that are easier to read. I Won't even begin to start with
grammar observations.

for one thing not everyone knows about caps lock. for two, everyone is just trying to help. wrong or right. the poor person is trying to get a question answered not watch a soap. follow the link that kelly left. he knows his stuff and won't argue instead.

Hey comicfan:

Kelly is a woman. How about using the correct gender pronoun when you
refer to her from now on......

The Unknown P doesn't even know what you mean by "no white space". UnP
posts from CDO and doesn't see how difficult it is to read posts with no
formatting. Even when UnP gives good advice, I can't bother to finish
reading the post.
UnP is very misinformed about posting from a newsreader and thinks posting
from a newsreader automatically broadcasts your email address. UnP has not
figured out that a newsreader can be configured to display any email address
real or bogus. It is only dependent on how the newsreader is configured, and
this is as simple as reading HELP. LOL

Thanks for the reply, Michael. :o) From his responses, it clearly seems
that he knows the difference between CDO and other. Now, if he doesn't
apply to "white space", I will remind him each and every chance I get.

If this is not recognizable via CDO, I will still do the same, until
something happens...... <w>

Actually UnP doesn't seem know the difference. If UnP had ever tried to
configured a newsreader [of any kind] , they would know there was the option
to supply any email address. UnP is completely ignorant of the workings of
accessing NNTP newsgroups. If UnP had a clue about NNTP newsgroups, UnP
would not reject all NNTP newsreaders applications [i.e. OE, Agent, Gravity,
Netscape, NewsBin, Xnews] as obsolete applications. Newsgroup applications
are developed expressly for the optimal use and interaction of peer support.

NM - you're my kinda guy! ;o)Though if we're being strictly correct your
last sentence is a fragment as it doesn't contain a subject and an object.
It would have been more correct to use a hyphen between 'read' and 'I'. ;o)
