Scaling and Stuff Getting Cut Off

on many occasions, when i go into page setup to adjust the
scaling so something fits, my output gets truncated. the
ends of words or numbers get cut off or maybe the top or
bottom of numbers or words get cut off. i don't know why
this happens and if it is an excel issue or a
printer/driver issue. any thoughts on how to stop stuff
from getting dropped or cut off?
