Savings jpegs off the web

Previously with Windows 98 I was able to save jpegs off the web, both by
their original name automatically and as a jpeg. Now with Windows XP, when I
try to save pictures, they are always saved as a bitmap, and it lists the
title as "Untitled" until I put in my own name. How do I fix this obvious
problem so that I save picures as a jpeg. It doesn't allow a pulldown window
to anything but the bitmap, so I can't save it as something else. Thanks in
advance..............Roger

This seems to be an issue with IE - I noticed it happening after SP2.
Clearing the temporary internet files solves it for me.

That happens when the Temporary Internet Files are too full. In IE click
Tools | Internet Options. Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet
files section of the General tab. On the next window place a check mark in
the box to Delete all offline content. Then lower the size for TIF to 40
MB.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and scroll
down to the Security section. Uncheck "Do not save encrypted pages to
disk".

Click Start/Run and type this command to fix the 'Content Type' settings:

regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll
(and/or)
regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll (for WinXP)

What do you mean by "clearing the temporary internet file"? I'm a novice at
this, so I don't want to mess anything up by doing the wrong thing...........

Roger,

You are posting via CDO. In addition to what has been mentioned if you are
using AOL, the steps are a bit different. Good luck, either way.

For: AOL 9.0

1) click on settings on the tool bar
2) click the "A-Z tab"
3) click "G-M"
4) scroll down and click "internet (web) options
5) click AOL browser tab (on the internet browser windows of AOL 9.0)
6) click on the "never compress graphics button"
7) save and restart computer

Thank you everybody, I did the delete "temporary internet files" and was able
to go save stuff as a jpeg, which makes me happy again.

I didn't find this "Then lower the size for TIF to 40 MB" but at least I
know to delete the temporary files regularly.

Thank you very much..............Roger
