saving word xp document to word 97

A client has asked for a document be saved in word 97 format. I have xp and do not see this option. I have only word 97 RTF and it makes the docuemt huge. Why can't she use the my document I create in word xp with .doc ?

XP has nothing to do with this....Word is an application...XP is an
operating system...

Word / Tools / Save - tick the box "Disable features introduced after:
.... choose Microsoft Word 97

In Word 2003 you can go to Tools > Options > Saving. There's a
category of 'default saving,' where you can disable all features
introduced after Word 97. There might be a similar feature in Word XP.

This should fulfill your client's request.
