Saving Web site ... slow... hints ?

I have a site that's grown a bit as of late. It has about 40 pages
with40 (FP include file supplied) links. Saves are getting very
slow. Even a simple page with no graphics (a little include page) is
taking 5 seconds to save. I'm using FP-XP with a win2K/2000 extensions
server. Other webs seem to be doing fine on the same server with the
same number of pages, although fewer links per page.

I seem to recall that earlier versions of FP had a feature that
allowed you to bypass recalculating byperlinks to make saves more
efficient. Any pointers to this or other hints to speed this up?

Thanks,

With FP closed, search for and delete the hidden/system .web files, as well as deleting the FP temp
folder located in your Windows Temp folder.

Thanks... seems to have helped. If it slows again I'll go looking for
those files.

What exactly are .web files ? Some of them are huge. Also, considering
that all my webs are on the server, it seems like they are a little
out of place.

The .web files are cache files for each web you have opened in FP. I delete mine daily.

I was having a problem of one particular page getting slower and slower. Finally I could not even save it when on my isp editing. I looked at the size and it was like 16 mgs. It only contained a small graphic and type. looked in my code and I had like over 50,000 lines of material. what had happened was around my menu buttons, every time I saved it, I created more and more space. Don't know why it is happening but periodically I have to go into the code mode and delete extra blank space. ???

Thanks. They've made a tremendous difference in opening and closing
the web(s).
