Saving Useful/Helpful Threads

Hi:
In XP, I saved some of useful and educational threads by using Flash-stick,
however when I tried to read them several months later, the threads were
gone or unreadable.

In Vista, is it safe for me to keep those helpful threads in Document, or
what
other place should I keep for safe-reading?

Thanks for any suggestions on this.

How did you save the thread was it the Save As option from the File menu or
did you just mark the thread as important/follow up?

Here's what I do, though you may not like this method.
I create a subfolder in my Inbox folder (in Windows Mail). My subfolder is
called Computer (original, ain't it?).
If I find a newsgroup message or thread I want to keep, I simply drag the
header into the Computer subfolder. Since it's part of my mail inbox, it's
treated as mail. That means it won't be deleted unless I delete it.

Thats what I do too, but the OP is saving it outside Windows Mail.

I use the web interface; it suits me!
If i want to save a message , Select it, control + C, open up a word doc
that I leave on the desktop for this reason, control + V

Thanks for the responses.

I experimented both suggestions, .... Windows Mail/In-box and 'Word,'
and very thanksful for that.

However, in Word, when I tried to open up threads which I copied,
Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V, Beeping noise. I suspect my 'Word' is old
version, Word 2000, then does not work good for that?

BTW, I do NOT mind whether I keep threads inside or outside Computer
as long as threads are there when I need them to read and reference.

I use Google Groups which does a good job at archiving and its easy to save
to your Favorites too.
