PowerPoint doesn't have a "global template" that saves these types of
changes (we're trying to get Microsoft swayed on this by the way). You need
to create your desired toolbar layout, do a "File", "Save as", click the
"save as type" and select "PowerPoint Add-in". Give the file a name and put
it in the Startup folder (or set it to run automatically when PowerPoint
opens).

After spending time to customize a toolbar (PowerPoint 2003, Excel 2003),
it disappears when opening up another file, or starting the app again. I
repeatedly change it, save it as XLB, XLT, POT...but the damn thing always
defaults to its own toolbar settings. How can one insist that PPT and Excel
use YOUR toolbar setting, rather than its own default?
