Saving Part of Streaming Audio

I know this one has been asked before, but I foolishly did not save the
results:

I heard a nice version of ``Like a Lover'' by Dori Caymmi, and wanted to
get the music for it so I could play it. Did not find it. So I went looking
for versions to play by streaming audio, so I could try learning it by ear.

How, again, does one capture and save part (or all) of streaming audio, so
it can be played again? In this case the show I heard it on, played the
song in the last minutes of a 2 hour show. I would hate to wait through all
two hours (archive is available) just to try to record one song.

Also, I am not up on the state of music sharing, since Kazaa was busted
and fees are not charged for hearing songs. I would be happy to pay if I
knew what software and networks to look into.

Try the freeware Screamer www.screamer-radio.com
it is a radio recorder for streamed music on internet.

Search for midi versions of the song you like, with searches for:
"Like a Lover" midi

Midi versions are like sheet music, so you can study how the song is
built up in a sequenser program, and play it through your sound card
synth.

I would use:

CDex http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ to record the stream.
MP3 Direct Cut http://www.mpesch3.de to extract the portion required.
MP3 Gain http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ to adjust the volume (if
necessary).
