Saving Messages to Text

MS Outlook 2007.

When I want to do a "Save as" of a message to save it as a TXT file on
my hard drive, the "Save as" defaults to an .OFT file that I have to
change every time to say TXT. Is there something in the registry or
anywhere else that I can set Outlook to default to TXT instead of OFT?

You cannot change the default value in the "Save as Type" drop-down. My
problem with what you're describing is that I've never seen Outlook choose a
default of OFT. If you're viewing an HTML message, the default Save as Type
will be ".htm". If you're viewing a Rich Text message, the default Save as
Type will be ".rtf". If you're viewing a Plain Text message, the default Save
as Type will be ".txt". I can't reproduce what you see.

I am sent information in the form of an Outlook template with a whole
bunch of individual fields. I need to open the template, do a File/
Save As and save the text in the fields to a TXT file. But when I do
the Save A, the file type defaults to OFT and I have to change it to
TXT.

If you send an OFT file as an attachment and they receivers open that OFT
file, then, naturally, the Save As Type will be OFT by default.

Again, you cannot change the Save As Type defaults.
