saving messages to folder on external drive

One of my business clients would like me to save messages regarding his
business to an external drive on my laptop computer for security reasons.
That is, I would like to save messages to one individual folder on an
external drive while still using folders on my internal drive for other
messages. This is not for archiving purposes but routine saving with ready
access when I'm using my email program. I am currently using Outlook Express
and apparently this is not possible. Can I do this in Outlook?

OL saves all msgs in its data file I fail to see what saving them to another
location has to do with security.
If you simply mean you require a backup of the data file, MS has a free OL
backup addin on their site which would enable you to save/backup the data
file to a location of your choice

The OL folders are not individual folders on your PC but simply a view of
the OL data file, which is a single file

By "security", I meant that if my laptop were to be stolen or viewed by
someone else, my clients messages would not be stored on it. I would like to
able to view/access the clients messages from an external (flash) drive when
I'm using Outlook. Does Outlook, or any other email program, offer this
option?

You would need to create a new data file, move the relevant msgs to that,
then close that data file and move it to a flash drive.
Whenever you needed to access the msgs you would have to open this data file
within OL.
Of course if the flash drive was lost/stolen you still have the same problem
All in all a messy solution. There are undoubtedly better solutions, eg
encrypting your laptop hd entirely
